Who are we?
Hello! Thank you for stopping by. We are Kinda Co., an award-winning company who are passionate about making the most delicious vegan cheeses. A few years ago (2017 to be precise!), our founder, Ellie, decided to ditch dairy. However, as a self-confessed cheese addict, she was still determined to find a way to enjoy all her favourite cheesy foods and of course, cheese.
Intent on proving that it is possible to enjoy delicious dairy-free cheese, Ellie spent countless hours in the kitchen researching, writing and testing innovative recipes in an effort to make the perfect plant-based cheese. Excited to share her culinary creations, she headed to her local markets to try and tempt the public to try her new recipes - and so Kinda Co. was born!
What started out as a one-woman enterprise based in a small flat in Angel, has transformed into a professional vegan cheese kitchen located in the beautiful county of Somerset. We now offer over 12 varieties of dairy-free vegan cheeses - sold in independent shops across the country, food markets in London and the South West, and nationwide via our online shop.
What exactly do we offer?
Where do we start? We have a whole host of delicious plant-based cheeses to try - all beautifully packaged and ready to be delivered to your door.
Our Block Cheeses are ideal for grating, slicing and melting - imagine making indulgent truffle-infused mashed potato with our creamy Summer Truffle; vibrant vegan Greek salads with our tangy Greek Style vegan feta and top-notch plant-based burgers, topped with our vegan Smoked cheese.
Or perhaps a creamy butternut squash risotto topped with our tangy Spirulina Blue; fabulous fajitas with our spicy Smoked Chilli; an eye-catching vegan cheese board with our Garlic + Herb cheese; or the best vegan cheese sandwiches (or toasties!) with our Farmhouse vegan Cheddar-inspired cheese. The possibilities are endless!
Meanwhile, our Jar Cheeses are the perfect cream cheese for dipping, dunking, drizzling, spreading and sprinkling... Looking to recreate your favourite classic Italian recipes whilst following a vegan diet? Our mild and creamy Mozzarellie (a vegan mozzarella named in honour of our founder) is the way to take your vegan pizza to the next level (although it also makes a gloriously golden and gooey cheese on toast or vibrant Caprese salad), whilst our Italian-style grated cheese topping is a delicious vegan Parmesan alternative (we love it on everything from pasta to risotto).
If you are a fan of bold flavours, try our smoky Nacho Dip - perfect for drizzling over your favourite vegan chilli or using it as a dip for tortilla chips, crisps or homemade wedges.
Speaking of dips, don’t miss our smooth Sour Creme + Chive Spread and the creamy texture Farmhouse Cheese Spread - both are super versatile and can be used in sandwiches, on bagels, in jacket potatoes… the world’s your oyster with our creamy cheese! Get creative - we would love to hear your ideas.
Although we love whipping up a culinary storm in the kitchen, sometimes we crave the comfort and simplicity of a vegan cheese board or ploughman’s platter. That's why we've also included some of our favourite crackers and chutneys in our online shop. Now it couldn’t be simpler to put together a fuss-free meal or impressive vegan cheese course… We also have a selection of gifts and bundles so that you can treat your plant-based pals to a little Kinda Co. too!
We are passionate about protecting the environment to preserve it for future generations - which is why we have worked hard to make our packaging as environmentally friendly as possible (whilst still keeping our cheeses in tip-top condition!). All our vegan cheeses are carefully packaged in 100% curbside recyclable packaging, including glass jars with paper labels to reduce plastic. Head to our online shop to discover our full collection.
How do you make vegan cheese without dairy?
Now that would be telling! Joking aside, we have spent years perfecting our recipes so that you can enjoy the best dairy-free and vegan cheeses that are every bit as good as traditional dairy cheeses. Whilst each recipe is unique, most include a delicious combination of cashew nuts, coconut oil and nutritional yeast (for that all-important umami flavour). We don’t like to boast, but we are super proud that our vegan cheeses have received several awards from highly respected institutions in the food world. In 2021, our smooth Sour Creme + Chive Spread, rich Farmhouse Spread, truffle-infused Summer Truffle cashew cheese and fiery Smoked Chilli cashew cheese all received a gold star from the Great Taste Awards.
